The browser picker and rules
The browser picker appears only while you hold the modifier keys and click a link. Let go of the keys, and links go through your rules as usual.
The picker wins for that click
Section titled “The picker wins for that click”When the picker appears, Bouncer does not check your rules. The browser you pick is where the link opens, even if a rule would have sent it elsewhere. The pick applies to that click only. It does not change the rule, and it does not create one.
The picker never appears on its own
Section titled “The picker never appears on its own”A link that matches no rule does not open the picker. It opens in your fallback browser. The only way to see the picker is to hold the keys. See How rules work for what happens when no rule matches.
When the picker does not appear
Section titled “When the picker does not appear”Bouncer skips the picker in these cases, even while you hold the keys:
- Choose a browser on click is off in Settings > General.
- Routing is paused from the menu bar menu.
- The link is an email link (mailto).
- The link points to a local address, and Skip routing for local addresses is on in Settings > Advanced.
Make a pick stick
Section titled “Make a pick stick”If you keep picking the same browser for the same site, make a rule. The fastest way is Create a rule from the menu bar. After that, the link goes there without the picker.
