Create a rule from the menu bar

Turn the last link Bouncer routed into a rule in a few clicks. The rule editor opens with the link already filled in. For a first walkthrough, see Create your first rule.

1. Click the Bouncer icon in the menu bar.
2. Click Create Rule from ”…”. The item shows the last link Bouncer routed. The rule editor opens with that link filled in.
3. Check the match under When… and the name under Name:. Change them if you want.
4. Choose where the link should go under Open in….
5. Click Save & Reopen to save the rule and open the link there now. Or click Save Rule to save only.

What Bouncer fills in

Example link:	The last link Bouncer routed.
Name:	The service name, when Bouncer knows the service. Bouncer knows Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, GitHub, Linear, Figma, and Notion.
When…	The suggestions for that link, with the most useful one selected.
Open in…	A native app that fits the link, when one is installed. Otherwise Chrome.

Save & Reopen or Save Rule

Save & Reopen saves the rule, opens the example link where the rule sends it, and closes Settings. If the rule rewrites the link, the rewritten link opens. This button appears only when you open the editor from the menu bar.

Save Rule saves the rule and closes the editor. Settings stays open with the new rule selected at the top of the list.

The Recent links block

The menu shows recent links only after Bouncer has routed at least one link. Until then, the block and the Create Rule from ”…” item are not in the menu.

The block starts with the header Recent links. Under it are the last links Bouncer routed. There are up to 5. Each one shows the site and where it opened, for example github.com → Firefox (Work). Create Rule from ”…” uses the newest one.

The item shows the link without the https:// part. If the link is longer than 35 characters, Bouncer cuts it at 35 and adds ”…”.
