Turn on the browser picker and choose the keys

The browser picker opens while you hold a set of modifier keys and click a link. The default is Option (⌥). The picker is on by default. Change the keys in Settings > General.

  1. Open Settings > General.
  2. Turn on Choose a browser on click. It sits in the Browser Picker: row.
  3. Click the key recorder in the Hold … when clicking a link. row. It reads Set modifiers… while no key is chosen.
  4. Press the keys you want. Each press adds that key, and a second press removes it.
  5. Press Return to keep the keys.

The help text under the row reads “Hold modifier keys while clicking any link to choose which browser opens it.”

The recorder accepts Control (⌃), Shift (⇧), and Command (⌘) as well as ⌥. Any combination of those four keys works. The recorder shows them in the order ⌃⌥⇧⌘, whatever order you press them in.

Press Escape to cancel the recording. Clicking anywhere else keeps the keys you pressed. If you pressed none, clicking away cancels.
