Choose a fallback email client
The fallback email client opens every email link that no rule matches. Until you change it, it is Apple Mail.
- Open Settings > General.
- Under Fallback Email:, choose a mail app or a webmail entry.
- If you chose webmail, choose a browser under Open in:. Then choose a profile, or leave Any Profile. For Arc the first item is Any Space.
The help text under the row reads “Bouncer will send mailto: links to this client when no rules match.”
The row is dimmed until Bouncer is the email handler. See Set Bouncer as the email handler.
Mail apps
Section titled “Mail apps”Only installed mail apps appear in the menu. Bouncer looks for these:
Mail app
---
Apple Mail
Outlook
Spark
Airmail
Mimestream
Canary Mail
MailMate
Thunderbird
Webmail
Section titled “Webmail”Webmail entries open a new message in a browser. They appear after a separator, with “(in browser)” after the name:
Webmail entry
---
Gmail (in browser)
Outlook (in browser)
Yahoo Mail (in browser)
Fastmail (in browser)
Proton Mail (in browser)
AOL Mail (in browser)
When you choose webmail, the Open in: row appears. It starts with your fallback browser. The profile menu appears for every browser that has profiles, even when Bouncer has not found any yet. See Choose a fallback browser.
When you choose a mail app instead, Bouncer clears the browser and profile.
Bouncer also sends every email link to the fallback email client while routing is paused.
To send some email links somewhere else, write a rule. See Write a rule for email links.
