A browser or profile is missing

A missing browser is usually not in your Applications folder. A missing profile was usually added after Bouncer launched. Safari, Arc, and Dia also need permissions before their profiles appear.

The browser is not in Applications

Bouncer looks for each browser’s app in your Applications folder. If it is not there, Bouncer asks macOS where the app is. A browser that macOS cannot find does not appear in Bouncer.

Bouncer remembers where each browser is until you quit it. If you installed or moved a browser while Bouncer was running, quit Bouncer and open it again.

The profile was added after Bouncer launched

Bouncer reads each browser’s profile list when it launches. It does not watch for changes.

1. Open Settings > Browsers.
2. Select the browser in the sidebar.
3. Click the refresh button in the header. Its tooltip is Refresh profiles, or Refresh spaces for Arc.

Safari, Arc, or Dia needs permissions

These three browsers need Accessibility permission and Automation permission before Bouncer can list their profiles. The browser must also be running.

Until both are on, Settings > Browsers shows a setup view for that browser instead of a list. When Bouncer already has a list, a banner at the top names the missing permission.

A renamed profile shows as a new one

When you rename a profile in the browser, Bouncer sees a new profile with the new name. The old name is gone from the list.

A rule that used the old name shows an orange triangle in the Rules list. Its links open in the browser’s default profile until you fix it.

1. Open Settings > Rules and double-click the rule.
2. Choose the profile again under Open in….
3. Click Save Rule.
