Create your first rule

By the end of this guide, you have one rule, and the link that started it opens in the browser you want.

The shortest path to a rule starts with a link you already opened. Bouncer keeps that link as the example link and fills in the rule editor for you.

1. Open a link that goes to the wrong place. Bouncer opens it in your fallback browser.
2. Click the Bouncer icon in the menu bar.
3. Click Create Rule from ”…”. The item shows the link you opened. The rule editor opens with that link as the example link. Bouncer names the rule and selects a match under When….
4. Choose where the link should go under Open in…. If that browser has profiles, choose one, or leave Any Profile.
5. Click Save & Reopen. Bouncer saves the rule, opens the link in the browser you chose, and closes Settings.

What you have now

You have one rule at the top of your Rules list. The next time you open a link like that one, it goes to the browser you chose. The Bouncer icon blinks each time a link routes.

The example link does most of the work for you. Bouncer reads it to name the rule, suggest what to match, and know where to reopen it. See Start from an example link to learn what else the example link does.

To save a rule without opening the link, click Save Rule instead.
