Set Bouncer as your default browser

Bouncer can route a link only when it is your default browser. Set it during onboarding or later from the menu bar.

From onboarding

1. If the onboarding window is not open, click the Bouncer icon in the menu bar and click Show Onboarding….
2. Click Get started.
3. On Set your default browser to Bouncer, click Set as default.
4. Confirm the change when macOS asks. A checkmark and All set! appear in the onboarding window.
5. Click Continue.

From the menu bar

1. Click the Bouncer icon in the menu bar.
2. Click Set as Default Browser….
3. Confirm the change when macOS asks.

The menu item changes to Default Browser ✓ and is dimmed. Bouncer checks this each time you open the menu.

Check or change it in Settings

Settings > General has a Default Browser: pop-up menu. It shows which app is the default browser now. Choose Bouncer to set it, or choose another browser to hand the default back.

The Fallback Browser: row below it is dimmed until Bouncer is the default browser.

Note

The email handler is a separate setting. Setting Bouncer as your default browser does not change which app opens mailto links. See Set Bouncer as the email handler to route email links through Bouncer.
