Set Bouncer as the email handler

Setting Bouncer as your default browser does not make it handle email links. The email handler is a separate macOS setting. Set it in Bouncer’s General tab.

  1. Open Settings > General.
  2. Under Email Handler:, choose Bouncer. The Fallback Email: row below it stops being dimmed.

The help text under the row reads “Set to Bouncer to intercept mailto: links and route them to the correct email client.”

Email links now go to Bouncer first. A rule for email links, or the fallback email client, decides where each one opens. See Choose a fallback email client and Write a rule for email links.

The Email Handler: menu also lists every installed app that can open email links. Choose one of them to hand email links straight to that app instead of Bouncer.

The default browser setting stays separate. To route web links, Bouncer must also be the default browser. See Set Bouncer as your default browser.
