Install and first launch
By the end of this guide, Bouncer is your default browser and has a fallback browser. Onboarding takes a few minutes.
Bouncer needs macOS 14 or later.
Install Bouncer
Section titled “Install Bouncer”- Download Bouncer from
https://downloads.getbouncer.app/releases/Bouncer-latest.dmg. - Open the disk image and drag Bouncer to your Applications folder.
- Open Bouncer. The Bouncer icon appears in the menu bar and the onboarding window opens.
Walk through onboarding
Section titled “Walk through onboarding”Onboarding has up to seven steps. One step appears only when Safari, Arc, or Dia is installed.
- On the welcome step, click Get started.
- On Set your default browser to Bouncer, click Set as default. macOS asks you to confirm. When Bouncer is the default, a checkmark and All set! appear. Click Continue.
- On Choose a fallback browser, choose a browser from the pop-up menu. Bouncer opens a link in this browser when no rule matches. Click Continue.
- If Safari, Arc, or Dia is installed, Enable permissions for profile support in … appears next. Click Enable Accessibility. System Settings opens to Privacy & Security > Accessibility. Turn on Bouncer, then return to the onboarding window.
- Make sure the browser is running. Click Set up Safari, Set up Arc, or Set up Dia. macOS asks you to allow Bouncer to control that browser. Allow it. When each browser is set up, click Continue.
- On Your browsers, Bouncer shows the browsers and profiles it found. Click Continue.
- On Set Up Your First Rule, click Continue. You can click a tile to add a rule for a common service. The next guide shows how to create a rule from a link you opened.
- On You’re all set, click Finish. Settings opens on the General tab.
What you have now
Section titled “What you have now”Bouncer is your default browser. Every web link you click goes to Bouncer first. Links open in your fallback browser until you add rules.

To run onboarding again, click the Bouncer icon in the menu bar and click Show Onboarding….
