What Bouncer does

Bouncer sends each link you click to the browser, profile, or app you choose. It lives in the menu bar and has no Dock icon.

Bouncer is your default browser

Bouncer works by acting as your default browser. When you set it as the default, every web link you click goes to Bouncer first. Bouncer decides where the link should open and hands it on.

Bouncer handles web links. Email links (mailto) use a separate setting called the email handler. See Set Bouncer as the email handler for that setting.

Rules decide where a link goes

A rule pairs a match with a destination. The match can be a whole site, one page, or a pattern. The destination can be a browser, a profile in that browser, or a native app such as Zoom or Slack.

Bouncer checks your rules from the top of the list down. The first rule that matches wins. Disabled rules are skipped.

You create most rules from a link you already opened. Bouncer reads that example link, names the rule, and suggests what to match. See Create your first rule.

When no rule matches

Bouncer opens the link in your fallback browser. You choose the fallback browser during onboarding. Until you change it, it is the browser that was your default before you installed Bouncer. If there was none, it is Safari.

Pick a browser for one click

Hold Option (⌥) while you click a link to see the browser picker. Choose a browser or profile for that one click. The picker is on by default. A pick does not create a rule.

What stays on your Mac

Your rules and settings are stored on this Mac only. Bouncer has no analytics or telemetry.
