A link opened in the wrong browser

Most often there is no rule for that link yet, so it opened in your fallback browser. If you do have a rule, another rule above it matched first, or your rule has a warning.

No rule matches the link yet

Bouncer keeps the last link it routed in the menu bar. Turn it into a rule.

1. Click the Bouncer icon in the menu bar.
2. Click Create Rule from ”…”. The rule editor opens with that link filled in.
3. Check the match under When… and choose where the link should go under Open in….
4. Click Save & Reopen. Bouncer saves the rule and opens the link in the browser you chose.

The item appears only after Bouncer has routed at least one link. See Create a rule from the menu bar.

A rule above it matched first

Bouncer checks rules from the top down, and the first match wins. Activity shows which rule matched each link.

1. Open Settings > Activity and find the link. The row shows the name of the rule that matched, or No match.
2. Right-click the row and click Go to Rule. The Rules list opens with that rule selected.
3. Drag your rule above it.

The rule has a warning

An orange triangle next to a rule’s name means the rule has a warning. Hold the pointer over the triangle to read it.

A rule with a warning may never match. A rule above it covers the same links, its regex won’t compile, its source app is not installed, or Accessibility permission is off. A rule whose profile no longer exists still matches, but the link opens in the browser’s default profile.
